Wood & Tronics Players
W&T players are people who encountered certain limitations with their previous basses, limitations that at some point have started to bug them. Not enough detail in the sound, requiring a great deal of work and practice to coax articulate sounds out of it. Not enough playing comfort, limited setup range etc. They chose a Wood & Tronics bass in order to overcome the limits that they were fighting to get around in the past.

I've been playing with the idea of a custom-made bass that would match my needs for ages.
Having owned lots of different basses over more than 25 years, I had a rather clear vision of what I was looking for.
Erik, Enrico and Sergio @ W&T really gave their best to make it happen.
They truly did a great job.
The "Fabs Bass" is a 4-string bass with a mahogany/tulipwood body, a bolt-on maple-mahogany neck with bubinga fingerboard, and a high-gloss natural finish.
A quite traditional but great-sounding and beautiful-looking construction.
I wanted the design to be elegant and straightforward, vaguely resembling two of my all-time favourite instruments: the Wal bass and the Ampeg AEB.
The stunning headstock is an original creation by Sergio, and matches the vibe of the instrument perfectly.
In spite of its relatively heavy construction, the "Fabs Bass" fits like a glove and plays like butter.
It also has an outstanding string-to-string balance and the tone is very even throughout the neck (a very important aspect, especially in the studio).
This bass cuts through the mix with great precision and power.
Its sound is focused and throaty, perfect for the kind of music I play (mostly pop, rock and prog-rock).
The pickup position was researched with great care to achieve a combination of balanced and clear tones with an articulated midrange (bridge position) vs. an extremely deep and warm but still highly defined low-end (neck position).
The pickups (Dolf Jazzbuckers) can be split series/parallel by a separate switch for each pickup, allowing a quite wide palette of different sounds.
Bridge and tuners are by Hipshot, the onboard 2-band active/passive preamp is made by East.
All in all, a truly exquisite instrument.
Thank you guys... www.fabiotrentini.com |

Tommaso Montagnani - Paris 2010
| Both as a bassist and double-bassist Tommaso played in several jazz, blues and soul festivals around the world (Italy, France, Germany, Brazil). After recording his first solo album in Italy he moved to Paris in 2004 and started collaborating with local jazz, nu-soul and rap artists (Julien Daïan Quintet + DJ Borz, Alain Jean-Marie, Maureen Angot...). In 2007 he founded a new contemporary jazz project, Kobo Concept, which toured extensively in France and Italy and recorded a first album, “Punk Zen”, in 2010.
“When I first tried my W&T EJ model, I was immediately amazed by its superb playability. This bass is just perfect, ergonomics-wise : it's lightweight, balances perfectly and it reproduces all the nuances of my style with great clarity and precision, yet providing the aggressive old-school punch I always strive for whenever I pick up a bass.” www.myspace.com/koboconcept |
Pierre Ganseman
 | In the first place, I contacted Enrico about a used Wood&Tronics bass I was planning to get.
I did order a bass from a luthier I did NOT know, and had never played any of his basses. Just heard some of them on Youtube from the great Roberto Badoglio. Yes, some people might call that insanity, but communication went so well, that I just went for it. After about 2/3 month the bass was delivered. Let's just say I was blown away, even though at first I wasn't really confident in the 32 scale since I just had never played one.
The frettless sings everywhere on the neck, from position 1 to 24, just as the fretted does. The Bassculture/Wood&Tronics Jazz pick ups sound amazing. Quality is 10 out of 10. To conclude I'd just say, Wood&Tronics belongs with the top custom makers, and for a hard-to-beat price. And I'll surely order another one at some point.

Paolo Vignati
| I've known Enrico and his bass guitars a few years ago. His instruments are unbelievably playable and easy on the ear, the fingers, and the eye. The awesome craftsmanship shows especially in the necks and fretboards that make playing extremely easy, fast and clean; the richness of sound, full of harmonic flavors, is a must-try experience, in my opinion. W&T are powerful basses with vibrating and clean mid and high frequencies, excellent timbres and amazing looks, it's hard to get more from a bass guitar.
